TELUS has established an Internet -of-Things (IoT) Control Center partnering with Jasper, a global leader in IoT platforms to help Canadian businesses to easily launch, manage and monetize IoT services. The purpose-built IoT service platform aims to simplify the deployment and management of IoT services by offering automated device provisioning, real-time diagnostics, integrated billing, and deep reporting and cost-management features.
An IDC study commissioned by TELUS in 2014 revealed that only 13 per cent of Canadian businesses had deployed or budgeted for an IoT solution in 2014, but that an additional 30 percent) are looking to deploy in the next two years. As Canadian businesses increasingly adopt IoT technology, TELUS said that the Control Centre will make it easier for them to tap into its potential to create innovative new services and generate entirely new revenue models. In December 2014, the company launched an IoT Marketplace, an online space offering turn-key IoT solutions from leading technology companies, including Accenture, IBM, Cisco and Intel.
