Ericsson, Sterlite Technologies Partner to Drive Smart City Initiatives in India

Ericsson has recently signed an agreement with Sterlite Technologies, a leading global provider of transmission solutions for the telecom and power industries, to work together in driving Smart Sustainable City initiatives in India in line with the Government’s vision of Digital India. Under the agreement, Ericsson will collaborate with Sterlite to design a roadmap and deploy solutions and services required to create a fully functioning knowledge-based society. The alliance will design, deploy, integrate and manage solutions in areas such as communications, public safety, intelligent transport and smart grid solutions, which will enable the establishment of sustainable smart cities in the country. 

According to Ericsson, the solutions covered in the agreement include: Communications (Wi-Fi networks and Fiber deployment), Public safety (Video situational awareness solutions and Emergency Response), Intelligent transport (Traffic Management and Fleet Management) and Smart Grid solutions (Smart Grid communications and Smart Metering).
