With the explosion in the consumption of data, the quality of content that is delivered via their mobile networks becomes a major concern for Operators. Subscribers are likely to use more content and stay committed to one Operator if they have a guaranteed, seamless and uninterrupted experience in accessing on-line content from their mobile devices, especially when it comes to rich content such as streaming videos on the web. Ipoque, a Rohde & Schwarz company and a leading provider of deep packet inspection (DPI) solutions for Internet traffic management and analysis, via their recent presentation at the Intel Developer Forum 2013 in San Francisco, have demonstrated that the DPI can be used to revolutionize consumers' mobile Internet experience. Intel Lab’s Research Scientists showcased ipoque’s PACE engine, a Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) software library integrated into the “Smart Pipe” server, which enables network operators to classify Internet traffic at the application level to ensure improved QoE for mobile Voice over IP (VoIP) calls and video streaming. The “Smart Pipe” allocates all bandwidth available across Wi-Fi or mobile networks to these prioritized applications and also enables seamless handover for VoIP calls when connectivity is lost from one of the networks, ensuring the customer’s service is never interrupted.
Hendrik Schulze, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of ipoque, said; “We are excited about the innovative access technology-independent usage scenarios Intel Lab’s research team has developed. PACE offers real-time application classification to networks. PACE can be deployed within days and offers infrastructure vendors accelerated time to market and easy integration in any hardware platform for any kind of network application, such as small cell nodes, mobile gateway access solutions, policy enforcement solutions, monitoring solutions for real-time reporting and troubleshooting, firewalls, and many other network solutions. “
