Procera Networks, the global Subscriber Experience company, has unveiled that they have optimized their PacketLogic/VTM virtualized software solution to demonstrate speeds over 150Gbps running on Intel Xeon Processor E5 v3 Family-based commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) platforms through participation in the Intel Network Builders program. The new benchmark increased from the last reported performance tests of 40Gbps, eliminating performance barriers associated with deploying network functions virtualization (NFV) solutions.
According to Procera Networks, the PacketLogic/V software has comprehensive Subscriber Experience Intelligence functionality and congestion management rules enabled, simulating a real world deployment, and the traffic rate was increased into the VNF until packets were dropped. PacketLogic/V software performed at over 150Gbps for traffic below the average packet size seen on the Internet, said Procera.
James Brear, President and CEO, Procera Networks
These performance results are groundbreaking. PacketLogic/V has demonstrated the highest NFV performance in the industry to date with full Layer-7 Subscriber Experience Intelligence functionality enabled. Our customers can begin taking full advantage of NFV and virtualization in their networks today.
Renu Navale, Director, Intel Network Builders program
Enabling high throughput in virtual network functions is critical to the success of NFV. We’re working closely with innovative companies, such as Procera, to optimize their solutions for Intel networking technologies, which will enable new levels of performance and streamline product development.
