Radisys Corporation, a market leader enabling wireless infrastructure solutions, this week announced a significant Media Resource Function (MRF) supply agreement with Nokia Networks. According to Radisys, Nokia Networks has selected Radisys’ MRF product family as the media processing foundation for its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) solution portfolio for standards-based IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) deployments. MRF is an essential element to support real-time voice and video services in an IMS architecture.

Radisys said that Nokia Networks will utilize Radisys’ Virtualized MRF and high-capacity MPX-12000 Broadband MRF, built on Radisys’ T-Series Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) platform, to provide its mobile operator customers with the flexibility to choose the media processing solution that best fits their economic and technical requirements for VoLTE/VoWiFi service. The company added that Nokia Networks will make use of a combination of Radisys’ hardware and cloud-ready software platforms to provide its mobile operator customers with a comprehensive range of deployment options for interactive HD voice and video communication services.
