Comarch last Friday announced that it has joined forces with ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation to deliver a virtualized, resilient network based on 5G SA technology for KDDI.

Comarch provided a comprehensive OSS system for management of all aspects of KDDI’s 5G SA core equipment. Functionalities include full control over network elements, covering planning, monitoring and service assurance. From the network management perspective, Comarch’s products include network inventory, planning and design, resource orchestration and bi-directional network integration. On the monitoring and assurance side, KDDI is now able to identify and resolve any issues quickly, thanks to enhanced fault management, performance management, service monitoring and service desk capabilities.

Comarch’s involvement in the project came about due in part to its long-term cooperation with ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation, a key integrator in the region. KDDI has automated failure detection, root-cause identification, and recovery method decision in mobile network operations. KDDI has made progress in providing customers with covenient, secure, and safe communication infrastructure 24/7. With the collaboration of Comarch and ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation, KDDI has taken an important step towards the KDDI VISION 2030 strategy to develop fast, reliable and maintenance-free networks of the future. KDDI has further promoted operation automation in the 5G SA network.

These 5G SA networks will facilitate high-speed, low-latency data transmission and completely new ways of optimization thanks to strong focus on the digitization of all elements and utilization of network slicing. To maximize the benefits of the new technology, it is important to use solutions capable of management of xNF (network functions of different types) covering multiple domains at once and combining information coming from a variety of data sources into a single, clear picture of the network. Systems delivering best experience for 5G networks of the future have to deliver a high degree of automation able to cope with the rapidly changing 5G SA environment. The solution provided by Comarch is one of very few that meets all of these requirements.

The selection of Comarch OSS by one of the largest Japanese operators confirms our strong position in the context of 5G network implementations. KDDI recognized our ability to deliver end-to-end orchestration and monitoring solutions designed specifically for the needs of 5G. Comarch is one of just a few vendors with experience in building 5G solutions and the ability to present a working proof of concept of the solution. Because of our comprehensive product portfolio, we were able to propose a solution that will cover all customer requirements, offering the shortest delivery time possible
