Ooredoo Qatar has launched its nationwide LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) services, boasting downlink data speeds of up to 225 Mbps. Nokia Networks upgraded the operator’s LTE network with LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation by combining the 800 MHz and 2.6 GHz spectrum bands.

According to Nokia, the launch marks the first commercial LTE-A deployment with carrier aggregation in the country, providing the operator with an end to end solution comprising of its radio and core network. The LTE-A deployment saw Nokia supplying its Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station, Evolved Packet Core technology and NetAct network management system.
