IBM and Tencent, the company behind the popular WeChat mobile messaging app have signed a collaboration agreement to provide cloud infrastructure and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions aimed at meeting the needs of small and medium enterprises in China, specifically enterprises operating in smart cities and smart healthcare industries, said both companies in a joint statement.
Tencent Cloud is a strategic cloud computing platform offered by Tencent as part of its Internet services business portfolio. Combining Tencent's cloud computing platform and IBM's expertise in serving enterprises with its advanced tools and services for running and integrating applications in the cloud, both companies intend to bring ‘Internet mode’ to more enterprise-level clients in the country.

The industry dimension makes this especially appealing for businesses.
