Sercomtel, a telecommunications company from Paraná State, Brazil, has selected Ericsson’s SSR 8010 solution, the 4th-generation IP solutions and part of Ericsson's Multi-Service Packet Backbone (MPBN) solution to manage broadband users, aiming to modernize the management and control of its network through a smart router.

Ericsson said that the solution which is deployed for the first time in Brazil is supported by Ericsson’s IP experts.

The SSR 8010 router that runs on its IP Operating System (IPOS), a key component of Ericsson’s fourth-generation IP network solution portfolio, enables fixed and mobile network convergence, providing IP backhaul aggregation for 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi and fixed access traffic.

Sercomtel achieved the highest scores in the Survey on Perceived Quality of Prepaid and Post-paid Cell Phone Services, published in June 2014 by Anatel (Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency), according to a statement by Ericsson.

We have selected the most modern and reliable solution, meeting our needs for network evolution while protecting the investment that is being made. Ericsson’s solution is in line with our objective of continuing to stand out in the market with quality service for the Sercomtel subscriber. Our partnership with Ericsson has shown that our efforts are on the right path, which is why we received the best scores in an Anatel survey.

-            Christian Schneider, CEO of Sercomtel

When more and increasingly different types of data devices are connected to networks, operators need to deal with unprecedented traffic volumes, in addition to being ready to handle an unmatched variety of subscriber applications and devices. The fourth generation of IP networks allows users to access the internet from anywhere at any time, delivering personalized service. We advise our customers to be ready for this scenario, offering their users the best telecom experience.

-            Sergio Quiroga, Ericsson’s Head of Latin America
