Recently announced partnership between Birdstep Technology, a leading provider of Smart Mobile Data and Secure Mobility and Wireless 20/20, a consulting group specialising in Broadband Wireless Market will allow MNOs and SPs to optimise their network infrastructure for services that combine LTE and WiFi offloading. The partnership paves way for the use of advanced simulation and analytical tools to track, analyse and predict the impact of WiFi on 4G and 3G networks, allowing operators to leverage on the WiFi off-loading to reduce their capital investments while maintaining connection quality and improving their returns on investments. The custom version of Wireless 20/20’s award-winning WiROI™ 4G Business Case Analysis Tool can now incorporate real usage data from Birdstep’s EasySmart, SmartANDSF and EasyAnalytics systems and offer simulation data that is expected to assist not only in network optimisation plans, but also in designing service packages that correspond to usage and demand trends.

“The Birdstep EasySmart, SmartANDSF and Seamless Login technology significantly increases

the chances that a smartphone will connect to a Wi-Fi network thereby increasing the amount of data offload to Wi-Fi”, said Randall Schwartz of Wireless 20/20.  “Using the WiROI tool in a typical MNO business case, our analysis shows an operator can see an increase of 20X the savings that Wi-Fi Offload can bring to its 4G business case.  In addition, the operator can see up to a 5X increase in the potential upside revenue.”

“I am pleased to be able to announce this partnership between Birdstep and Wireless 20/20 and their award-winning WiROI™ tool,” said Lars Esshagen, Executive Director Product Management and Product Marketing at Birdstep Technology. “I think that our joint efforts will be of great benefit to all SP/MNOs who plan to deploy any type of Heterogeneous networks.”
