TE Connectivity (TE), Monday announced that it has upgraded its distributed antenna systems (DAS) portfolio to support 4G services to drive higher data speeds and service in high capacity indoor and outdoor venues. The company said that the technology-agnostic DAS portfolio - FlexWave Prism and InterReach Spectrum allows customers who are currently using 2G and 3G service to deliver more capacity in their networks.
DAS technology helps to address the exponential growth in network traffic in certain venues and during certain events, evident across sporting and entertainment venues such as stadiums, hospitals, subways, college campuses, airports, hotels, conference centers and more.
TE's new DAS system that will be showcased at the CTIA from September 9-11, 2014, supports techniques such as multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) and additional 4G spectrums - 700 MHz and 2100 MHz AWS, making it ideal to support the high capacity at these venues.
According to TE, MIMO is proving to be a popular upgrade in high-density user venues because it doubles network capacity for current usage and provides high-performance foundation for future upgrades such as 5G.
“TE’s DAS products make it easy for our customers to stay up to date with ongoing changes in wireless infrastructure by upgrading with technologies such as MIMO. Our all-digital solutions provide a robust and cost-effective upgrade path for mobile operators and venue owners who want to continue to bring the highest quality of service to their subscribers and guests.”
