Metaswitch Networks Thursday announced that BT has selected its virtual Perimeta Session Border Controller to support the new BT One Phone service. The BT One Phone is a Unified Communications (UC) service that brings fixed, mobile and office phone systems together into one service that is hosted in the cloud and delivered via mobile devices.
Metaswitch's virtualized Perimeta SBC supports SIP interconnect between the BT One Phone core network and the network operated by BT's wireless partner, and at the same time protects network services from nefarious attacks and manages packet throughput under all load conditions.
Metaswitch said that the virtualized Perimeta can scale to thousands of simultaneous sessions and can be deployed on any virtualized cloud server, allowing BT to deliver a secure and stable service for its customers.
