Broadcom expands further into the smallcells portfolio by announcing its third generation low-power small cell baseband System-on-a-Chip (SoC) devices for residential, enterprise and outdoor small cell networks. Broadcom officials said that the new baseband SoC comes with double the capacity, delivering higher data rates up to 300Mbps compared to the current offerings.

The newly released SoCs -BCM61735, BCM61755 and BCM61765 also feature residential multi-mode and triple-mode 3G, 4G and LTE support, including the WiFi -802.11n and 801.11ac standards, making it suitable for carriers to offload data traffic from congested 3G, 4G/LTE mobile and Wi-Fi networks.

In addition, the SoCs enable carriers and operators to deliver improved connectivity for their enterprise and metropolitan subscribers by optimizing spectrum efficiency for an overall increase in network capacity, improved coverage and higher data rates.

Our new generation of residential and triple-mode enterprise baseband processors for small cells provides global carriers with a powerful solution as 3G technology matures and global operators prepare to transition to 4G/LTE mobile networks. Building on more than two million field deployments of our small cell technology, Broadcom's new BCM617x5 SoCs allow carriers to meet consumer demand for a consistently high quality, high performance mobile experience."
