Event : Training Title : Effectice Policy and Charging Control Though Diameter Signaling Date : November 11-13, 2013 Time : Whole Day Venue : London
The huge increase in smartphones, smart devices, and associated applications, require new thinking in terms of controlling the access and traffic within the telecoms network. Effective Policy and Charging Control through the deployment of Diameter Signalling is becoming an absolute requirement to guarantee cost-effective and efficient delivery of data services, and to minimise risk from increasing traffic loading.
This programme explores the drivers, operation and deployment options of advanced Policy and Charging Control using the Diameter Protocol, as well as the impact on the network and interaction with existing signalling systems. It highlights the standard 3GPP solutions, including the migration to the Evolved Packet Core (EPC), as well as the major options for deployment.
The Policy and Charging architecture, procedures and scenarios are examined in detail in order to build a comprehensive understanding of the scope and impact of Diameter, as well as best practice implementation options. The course looks at the overall requirements for signalling in modern networks, before focusing on the emerging role of PCC and Diameter in order to ensure continuing efficiency and effective traffic control.
Participants will develop or be able to: Develop a clear understanding of Diameter signaling and how will it will affect the wider network, as well as the role and effect of the handset/device and associated applications in driving Diameter deployment Learn how, why and when to deploy Diameter signaling solutions Contribute much more effectively to discussions and development of strategy in areas of Diameter, PCC, network traffic loading and network efficiency Evaluate implementation options for Diameter, Policy and Charging Control (PCC) Architecture and advanced signalling systems, including the roaming scenario Prepare the network more effectively for the smartphone-driven signaling surge Optimize the network to provide the best possible end user experience Better assess the relationship between IMS and LTE (and their impact on signaling traffic), in order maximize efficiency Make decisions on Diameter and Policy & Charging Control implementation that are commercially viable, minimise risk, and in line with the strategy and goals of the wider organization. |
