IoT and M2M Market Size to Swell Close to USD500 billion by 2019 with Widespread Adoption Across Consumer and Industrial Applications

IoT M2M Market Size

Based on a recently published report at the RnR Market Research, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) market is expected to grow at a staggering CAGR of 24.24% from now to 2019, taking the sector from its present market size from USD128.7 billion to USD498.92 billion by the end of the period. The strong growth in the sector is bouyed by the rise in consumer electronics which are becoming increasingly 'connected', the growth in the connected car segment and the proliferation of M2M applications for industrial and enterprise use.

The report, "Internet of Things (IoT) & Machine-To-Machine (M2M) Communication Market by Technologies & Platforms (RFID, Sensor Nodes, Gateways, Cloud Management, NFC, CEP, SCADA, ZigBee), M2M Connections, IoT Components - Worldwide Market Forecasts (2014 - 2019)" which is available at RnR's reports listing covers global adoption trends, future growth potential, key drivers, competitive landscape, restraints, opportunities, and emerging technologies on top of IoT/M2M revenue forecasts, key technology segments and applications.

In its report release, RnR featured a few case studies illustrating the use of IoT/M2M, including Philips's One Sleep Theraphy where doctors are able to monitor the breathing patterns of a sleeping patient remotely via a web-based patient management system which receives inputs via the Cinterion TC65i Java Module and GSM/GPRS wireless network connection. Another case study shared in the report release is the intelligent traffic management where remote monitoring of traffic conditions enables traffic control authorities to wirelessly communicate with vehicles to divert their route and also to execute other traffic control measures in real-time based on the information transmitted from the vehicles and from sensors on the roads.
