TechNavio's MDM Market Prediction Shows BYOD On the Rise, Enterprise Data Business To Benefit

TechNavio's MDM Market Prediction Shows BYOD On the Rise, Enterprise Data Business To Benefit Source: Technavio
  • Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) policy is becoming more popular in recent years as employee mobility and business overhead concerns are pushing more enterprises to employ cost effective practices at workplaces. The availability of high-speed data connection and proliferation of smart mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and phablets have made it possible for hundreds of thousands of people to work remotely. With the BYOD becoming a norm, communication service providers can expect an increase in the demand for enterprise data services which bundles devices, data and voice/message services to create packages that are fit for employees under the BYOD schemes.

  • TechNavio, a global research firm specialising in technology segments has recently published research findings that show that enterprises are increasing their spending on Mobile Device Management (MDM) softwares at a CAGR of 23.95% over the next five years. According to TechNavio, MDM enables enterprises to monitor and manage personal devices, provide security and synchronize information with desktops computers at workplaces. Technavio listed AirWatch, Citrix Systems, Good Technology and MobileIron as leaders in the segment and shared the following graph to show the sectoral breakdown of the MDM software market.

With the BYOD trend expected to increase across more organizations, mobile operators will benefit from offering data connection services that are able to fulfill overall connection needs of each employee under the BYOD by extending the enterprise packages to home and family mobile packages. As content access for work and for personal use converges on cloud based platforms (enterprise cloud storage / document access and movie/entertainment from online channels such as Netflix), a single shared data package will greatly enhance the convenience of managing data connections, bill payments and content subscriptions.

"The increased use of smartphones and tablets in the workplace enables employees to work remotely, and these employees are connecting to the corporate network and enterprise IT departments. Enterprise mobility helps organizations exchange data and information without time and location constraints. Because of the greater mobility these schemes provide, organizations have been increasingly adopting BYOD policies, and related mobile device management solutions."
