Windstream, a leading provider of advanced network communications in the United States has selected Alcatel-Lucent to launch Kinetic - a next-generation television service offering innovative, high-quality IPTV services to 50,000 subscribers in Lincoln, Nebraska. Windstream has selected Alcatel-Lucent's Velocix content delivery network solution as well as consulting and professional services for network design, systems integration, deployment and commissioning of the entire Windstream IPTV delivery solution.

The deployment also includes the integration of Alcatel Lucent's solution with hardware and software components from Dascom Systems Group and Harmonic, which will augment the solution's Mediaroom IPTV middleware.

Bryan Brooks, Windstream Vice President of Business Development and Video, Alcatel-Lucent
Leveraging our 100% fiber-backed network, Kinetic is a true game changer, one that makes the content and features customers demand from their TV provider a standard. With Kinetic, features like High Definition (HD) channels, whole home DVR service, wireless set top boxes and instant channel change are provided at no additional charge. Kinetic reinvents how you watch TV, and we couldn’t have created this one-of-a-kind experience without the support of Alcatel-Lucent.

Paul Larbey, Head of Alcatel-Lucent’s IP Video Business
Alcatel-Lucent’s approach to IP video services and systems integration allows us to bring best-in-class solutions for each component of the IPTV network. In this way, we were able to design and build the solution that exactly meets Windstream’s needs today and that will allow them to evolve and grow in the future to adopt new services as customers’ demands change.
