Philippine's leading mobile operator, Globe Telecom, today announced that it is the first operator in the world to deploy Huawei’s SingleSON (self-organizing network) solution to optimize its wireless network performance, operation and maintenance (O&M) for a better customer experince. The solution enables Globe to manage the explosive growth and development of mobile data services traffic, which is foreseen to continue into the next decade.

The operator which recently tested the solution live on its 20,000 2G, 3G and 4G cell sites, plans to deploy the SingleSON solution nationwide by end of this year. Globe claims that the performance of the solution achieved remarkable results and exceeded expectations with immediate improvement on both drop call rates as well as users’ throughput.

Globe said that with unprecedented growth in mobile data traffic and the rapid development of mobile broadband, new network technologies such as LTE-Advanced coupled with small cells are becoming a new trend to address explosive data growth. This will be further fuled by the growth of the Internet of Things, making mobile networks increasingly more complex to operate.

Robert Tan, Chief Technical Advisor, Globe
The capabilities of the SingleSON solution in improving our network’s O&M efficiency and performance are impressive. It will allow us to continuously deliver a great user experience without additional manpower resources to manage an increasingly more complex network. We are pleased to collaborate with Huawei on the development of the SingleSON solution, and we look forward to work with them on new, innovative solutions under our strategic partnership framework.

Jiang Wangcheng, President, Huawei SingleOSS Product Line
We are honored to provide Globe Telecom with our SingleSON solution to enhance the state of their network O&M. The SingleSON technology will be further developed and enhanced with the development of future-oriented 4.5G, 5G, and other advanced wireless communications technologies. In this regard, we will continue providing innovative solutions to our customers in order to help them operate more efficiently and deliver a wonderful customer experience.
