du, the Middle East region’s fastest growing telecommunications service provider in partnership with Nokia Networks has successfully acquired the Voice over LTE (VoLTE) functionality for its network. Nokia’s VoLTE solution which is based on its IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) enabled du to put the functionality in place given its complex multi-vendor LTE network environment.
For this project, Nokia’s VoLTE solution comprising its Liquid Core based IMS was deployed along with its Professional Services which carried out the network planning and optimization activities, ensuring smooth system integration and network implementation. As part of the project, Nokia Networks also provided LTE radio access to du’s commercial network.
Nokia said that the company's VoLTE experts designed, tested and integrated the VoLTE functionality into du’s multi-vendor LTE network and achieved this Middle East-first VoLTE implementation in just 80 days, making this the world’s fastest implementation. VoLTE functionality will enable du to offer 4G Voice services for its data subscribers as IP-based voice communications become more popular and as more end-user devices come readily embedded with this service feature.
