Santa Clara-based Aviat Networks, a leading provider of microwave networking solutions, unveiled findings from a recent survey it commissioned to gather insights from Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) on the delivery of fixed communication services for enterprises. The survey, which was conducted by Heavy Reading on behalf of Aviat found, among others, that Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) consider fixed enterprise services a main priority for their subscriber growth and a top priority for revenue growth. The survey also pointed out that the managed L3 VPN services such as IP/MPLS are of interest to enterprises as it enables them to leverage on the ready infrastructure provided by service providers to cater for their enterprise communication needs.

The L3 VPN enables MNOs to roll out enterprise communications solutions rapidly, as the solution offers faster time-to-market and MNOs are able to expand their services to large number of enterprise customers in a short time. The survey showed that 75% of MNOs voted IP/MPLS service as the key enabler for growth in the enterprise segment. In addition, the L3 IP/MPLS also enables MNOs to offer unified communications services that bundle fixed and mobile offerings for the delivery of next generation digital services including HD video conferencing, high speed data, and integrated voice and messaging services.

Majority of the survey respondents also preferred providing MPLS Layer 3, or L3 services for their business customers directly from the mobile cell sites, with 75 percent saying that they would leverage the existing site equipment to deliver fixed wireless services for their clients. Apart from the fixed wireless services, the use of this infrastructure will also enable MNOs to boost in-building 3G/4G coverage by deploying complementary technologies such as picocells and femtocells.

According to Aviat Networks, its combined microwave radio and IP/MPLS router deployable by NMS software, addresses the current requirements from enterprises. The company added that its LTE-proven microwave networking solutions help to transform communications networks to handle the exploding growth of IP-centric, multi-Gigabit data services and it has, to date, more than 750,000 systems installed around the world. The following infographics from Aviat summarizes some of the key findings from the survey.

“Aviat has the products, solutions and services to make it easy for mobile operators to offer enterprise services. With the CTR 8000 family of microwave routers and one-click ProVision NMS, Aviat offers an end-to-end fixed enterprise services solution.
