Embarcadero Technologies announced the latest release of their Appmethod for active subscribers and new Appmethod developers. The Appmethod enables developers to build highly connected apps for the Internet-of-Things (Io) using a single app development platform and shared C++ codebase. According to Embarcadero, the Appmethod September 2014 Release provides a complete software development solution for building natively compiled C++ apps that connect mobile and desktop devices, sensors, gadgets, wearables, cloud services, and data.

Embarcadero said that App developers can now create dynamic, highly responsive designs across any device or form factor using Appmethod's new FireUI Multi-Device Designer and user interface (UI) components. Using the latest release of Appmethod, developers can build apps for Android, iOS, Windows and OS X that interconnect with IoT via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi app tethering. Appmethod's integrated wireless support works with thousands of "off-the- shelf" consumer and industry-specific devices, added Embarcadero.

Appmethod also provides the New Enterprise Mobility Services that deliver an out-of-the-box app mobility middleware server for connecting to private cloud data and custom APIs. The turnkey middleware solution can easily be deployed on premise, or into a private cloud by a development team and provides a set of application services, including user authentication, analytics, encrypted embedded and server storage, custom API management, and Mobile Enterprise SQL database connectivity, all over industry standard REST/JSON.

The Appmethod is available immediately from appmethod.com while the free version, which allows developers to build and distribute Android phone apps for free, can be downloaded from appmethod.com/sign-up.

"IoT is enabling a completely new class of application architecture that extends the user experience beyond 'the screen' to connected devices, sensors, gadgets, and wearables, aggregating information from multiple devices. Revolutionizing applications in industries from health care to smart manufacturing, IoT presents incredible new opportunities, yet developers face challenges in building this new generation of connected applications. We designed Appmethod to make it incredibly simple to build powerful cross-platform apps with C++ that easily connect with and include a wide variety of consumer and industrial devices, sensors, enterprise data, and cloud services. Appmethod is designed as a complete end-to-end platform that can rapidly open the IoT door for developers building the next generation of device-extended applications."

Dealing with the differences in multiple device UI characteristics has become a huge problem in our BYOD world. So, creating UIs that can leverage shared code but be optimized for different devices, device types and form factors, while being easy and seamless to implement, is a software developer's dream come true."
