Kyivstar, the largest mobile operator in Ukraine, has entered into a new strategic partnership with Opera Software to launch a co-branded version of the Opera Mini mobile web browser. The agreement which is part of the Global Framework Agreement between Opera Software and VimpelCom Group that was extended in January 2014, will allow Kyivstar to opt into the entire Opera portfolio of products, including such products as Opera Web Pass, Rocket Optimizer and Opera Max.

According to Opera, its Opera Web Pass will enable Kyivstar to package internet access in an easy-to-understand and affordable way, including compelling data packages that are time based, content based or even free for promotional use. Implementation of Opera’s cloud-based services, including Rocket Optimizer and Opera Max, can help Kyivstar combat the explosion of data traffic coming from smartphones, particularly mobile video consumption, said Opera in a statement.

"We are proud to partner with such a renowned mobile communications expert as Opera Software. We are now working towards integrating our products for more than 3 million of our subscribers who use Opera Mini. In the near future, Kiyvstar will launch a range of new services based on Opera solutions.”

-        Svyatoslav Gorban, Marketing Director, Kyivstar

“We are happy to welcome Kyivstar into our partner community. Kiyvstar's strong presence in Ukrainian market, combined with Opera technologies, will bring an improved mobile internet experience to millions of users in Ukraine."

-         Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software
