TELUS, Canada’s fast-growing national telecommunications company with close to 8 million wireless subscribers is working together with Syniverse and Mastercard to maximize their subcribers' mobile experience by providing enhanced security and enabling them to make credit card purchases with confidence while traveling.

Florida based Syniverse said that its Mobile Intelligence Portal solution provides “mobile context", based on information about customers’ mobile characteristics, like where they go, their current geographic location, what mobile channels they use and how they prefer to make purchases. The 'mobile context' provided by the solution enables purchases to be verified in a simple and hassle-free manner by simply confirming that the sale or purchase is taking place where the subscriber's mobile device is located.

Today, up to 80 percent of the payment transactions that are declined while people travel abroad are actually legitimate, creating a real headache for consumers, retailers and financial institutions. Combining the speed and intelligence of our global network with mobile context data can help us further improve the user experience for cardholders by ensuring legitimate transactions are approved without the consumer having to take additional steps.”

-       Hany Fam, President, MasterCard Enterprise Partnerships

“Working with Syniverse and MasterCard, TELUS will offer customers a whole new level of protection and peace of mind while on-the-go. Our work with Syniverse combined with TELUS travel passes and roaming notifications give customers the confidence to use their payment cards and mobile services anywhere they travel.”

-      Brent Johnston, Senior Vice President, Consumer Marketing, TELUS

We look forward to helping TELUS deliver consumer confidence and more personalized engagement with our Mobile Intelligence Portal solution. With the addition of TELUS and a Tier-1 operator in the United States, we are encouraged by the growing list of mobile service providers connecting to the Mobile Intelligence Portal to offer their end users innovative ways to enhance the mobile experience with relevant, contextual engagement.”

-       Alfred de Cárdenas, President, Enterprise and Intelligence Solutions, Syniverse
