Entel S.A, the largest Communication Service Provider (CSP) in Bolivia, has deployed Ulticom Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) for its Mobile Network. The solution provides multivendor interworking and IMSI-based Diameter routing, including load balancing with optimized transaction persistence, for Entel Online Charging (OCS) applications.

The Entel deployment utilizes Ulticom's proprietary Service-Oriented Routing(TM) technology, undetectably optimizing Diameter signaling load across the server pool.

According to Ulticom, the system comes with transaction persistence capability, an integral piece of the Entel deployment, routes components of transactions to the same server, dramatically reducing operational overhead. In addition, it provides smoother, faster transaction response; a balanced load; higher throughput and, ultimately, lower costs.

The Ulticom DSC can be utilized as a Centralized Router, a Diameter Load Balancer, a Diameter Routing Agent (DRA), a Diameter Edge Agent (DEA), or an IPX Hub. DEA and IPX Hub functionality supports LTE Roaming while DRA functionality provides advanced policy management signaling routing (IP-CAN Binding), adds Ulticom.

Ulticom DSC Deployment at Entel

We see the Ulticom Diameter Signaling Controller as an important part of our Diameter signaling deployment strategy going forward. The Ulticom solution provides us with the versatility to integrate the DSC into our service offering and quickly realize cost savings that would not have been possible otherwise."

- Hugo Miranda Centellas, Subgerente de Implementacion de Proyectos, Entel Bolivia S.A

"Ulticom's DSC provides a powerful, cost-effective solution enabling Entel to effectively optimize Diameter signaling as they continue to evolve their network," said Bruce Swail, CEO of Ulticom. "Our DSC offers a foundation for multivendor network growth -- keeping Entel firmly in control of central network resources."

- Bruce Swail, CEO of Ulticom
